Connecting Heritage, Health & Home
Who We Are
African Ancestry Link (AAL) is a nonprofit organization bridging the gap between Africans on the continent and the diaspora through DNA testing, ancestral discovery, and genetic health education.
We are a growing global movement restoring identity, family connection, and access to critical health insights through technology, research, and cultural healing.
Why We Exist
Less than 2% of global genomic research includes African DNA, despite Africa having the most ancient and diverse genetics on Earth.
This exclusion leads to:
-
Medications that don’t work for African genomes
-
Genetic diseases that go undetected or misdiagnosed
-
Diasporans disconnected from identity, family, and healing
We believe that every African, no matter where they live, deserves the right to:
-
Know where they come from
-
Understand what runs in their blood
-
Access healthcare and history through the power of DNA
Our Story
Our Pillars at a Glance
Our Vision in Action
African Ancestry Link (AAL) exists to reconnect Africans with their roots and reveal vital health insights through DNA.
While many in the diaspora explore ancestry through DNA testing, most Africans on the continent are left out due to limited access and cost. We’re changing that by offering free DNA kits to Africans globally.
The transatlantic slave trade fractured families. Today, DNA can help rebuild them, but Africa’s underrepresentation in global research makes reconnection and early health detection nearly impossible.
AAL is closing that gap. By blending science, culture, and education, we empower Africans to discover who they are, reunite with relatives, and take control of their health.
African Ancestry Link is more than a movement, it’s a blueprint for change. Every program we run is part of a larger vision to reconnect families, restore health, and rebuild trust in Africa’s heritage.
Each pillar reflects our commitment to building a future where African heritage and health are inseparable

OUR MISSION
To create a future where every African, regardless of geographic or economic barriers, has access to DNA testing, fostering a deep understanding of their ancestry, enhancing their health awareness, and connecting them with relatives worldwide.
OUR VISION
AAL envisions a fully established global DNA database for Africans in diaspora and continent To empower them with knowledge about their heritage and health by ensuring every person of African descent can trace their lineage, understand their genetic health, and strengthen their connection to African heritage.
